We treat every instrument with the utmost care under controlled climatic conditions to ensure the long-term stability of the wood.

Reception and Diagnostics

How does the initial examination of my instrument work?

When you bring your instrument to our workshop, we first perform a detailed visual inspection and functional analysis. We check the string height, the integrity of the body, the function of the tuners, or the seal of the pads for wind instruments. This initial diagnosis serves to determine the exact condition and create a precise work plan.

Does the initial diagnosis in your workshop cost anything?

No, the diagnosis at Bashkirixa is free of charge. The diagnostic fee is 0 Euro. We analyze your instrument without upfront costs so that we can provide you with a transparent offer.

Do I need to book an appointment to drop off my instrument?

An appointment is not strictly required, but it is recommended to avoid waiting times. We are available Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Generally, we can accept instruments directly and provide an initial assessment.

What documents or information do you need upon handover?

It is helpful if you provide us with information about the history of the instrument (e.g., last string changes or previous repairs). We create a protocol of the current condition upon acceptance, which serves as the basis for the final handover.

Turnaround Times and Deadlines

How long does a typical adjustment of my instrument take?

The processing time varies depending on the effort required. The average setup time in our workshop is 4 days. This includes the time for the actual work as well as the necessary acclimatization of the instrument in our climate-controlled environment.

Can repairs be expedited in urgent cases?

We strive to be flexible to meet the needs of musicians and orchestras. Please discuss your schedule with us during the drop-off. However, we guarantee a careful execution, which must not be compromised by rushed processes.

How will I be informed about the progress of the work?

As soon as your instrument is completed, we will notify you by email or phone. If unforeseen defects occur during the work, we will contact you immediately to coordinate the next steps.

What happens if I cannot pick up my instrument immediately after completion?

We offer free storage of your instrument for up to 14 days after completion. Please arrange for pickup within this period to make room for new projects in our workshop.

Pricing and Estimates

How are the prices for your services calculated?

Our prices are based on the time required and the complexity of the work. We offer both standard packages and comprehensive overhauls. All prices on our website include the statutory VAT of 20%.

Will I receive a binding cost estimate before work begins?

Yes, we place great value on cost transparency. Before every work step, there is a coordination of the estimate (smeta). We only begin implementation once you have explicitly agreed to the offer.

Are there special payment terms for music schools or B2B customers?

For business customers and institutions (B2B), we offer a payment term of 30 days. Private individuals are asked to settle the invoice directly upon collection of the instrument.

What payment methods are accepted at the workshop?

We accept common payment methods. Details regarding billing can also be found in our Terms and Conditions. For larger projects, a down payment may be agreed upon.

Warranty and Liability

Do you provide a warranty on the work performed?

Yes, we provide a warranty of 6 months on our craftsmanship. This refers to the professional execution of the work, not to the natural wear and tear of consumables such as strings or bow hair.

What should be noted in the event of a complaint?

If you find after collection that the result does not meet the agreed specifications, please contact us immediately. We will review the case and rectify any defects free of charge within the scope of the warranty.

Are instruments insured while stored in the workshop?

We treat every instrument with the highest care. Liability for instruments during storage is regulated in our legal notices. We recommend that customers with very high-value collector's pieces maintain their own instrument insurance.

How do you handle protected materials (e.g., CITES)?

We do not perform work on materials from protected species (e.g., ivory or Brazilian rosewood) unless valid CITES documents are provided. This is to protect endangered species and comply with international laws.

Storage and Climate

Why is humidity in your workshop so important?

Wooden instruments are extremely sensitive to fluctuations in humidity. Air that is too dry can lead to cracks, while too much humidity affects the sound and stability. We maintain constant climate control between 45% and 55% relative humidity.

Do you also help me with optimal storage at home?

Yes, after every adjustment, you will receive recommendations from us on the care and storage of your instrument to preserve the result for as long as possible. We are happy to advise you on suitable humidifiers or hygrometers.

How do you protect instruments from dust and damage?

All instruments are stored in a protected zone. We use soft underlays and ensure that the workshop area of 45 m² is optimally organized to avoid collisions or unauthorized access.

Can I visit my instrument while work is in progress?

For security reasons and to avoid disturbing the concentration of the luthiers, the workshop is not open to visitors during the active work phase. However, we are happy to send you photos of the progress upon request.

We hope this information helps you better understand the processes in our workshop. The satisfaction of our customers in Graz and the surrounding area is our highest goal. Please note that the processing of your data for inquiries is carried out in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

If you have further questions, do not hesitate to contact us by email at [email protected] or by phone at 0316 65 27 88. We look forward to bringing your instrument to its best form.
